Pirat_Nation on X claims nv-uefi-unlocker runs at the UEFI level, before Nvidia's drivers load. The post says it supports Windows and Linux and needs neither a modified Nvidia driver nor a permanent VBIOS flash. None of this has been independently confirmed.

The reported gains vary by card: up to 2x peak AI compute on the RTX 4090, up to 80% higher matrix performance on the RTX 3090 Ti, and around 65% in reported tests on the RTX 4060 Laptop. These are figures from the post, not independent measurements.

Separately, Wccftech covered a related Ampere project, GPU Unlock, by GitHub user Zagitta. It targets the instruction issue-rate limit on FP16/BF16 Tensor Core operations with FP32 accumulation, which runs at a reduced rate on consumer Ampere cards compared with professional ones. Wccftech's headline puts real-world gains at up to 60%.

The improvements apply to AI compute workloads, not gaming frame rates.
