Pearl Abyss released Charting the Unknown on 29 October, and PlayStation's official account confirmed it is out now on PS5. Push Square lists the price at £19.99 / $24.99. The trailer also lists Xbox Series X|S, Steam and the Epic Games Store for the same 29 October date.

The pitch is breadth rather than a self-contained campaign. PC Gamer describes it as less a focused story expansion and more a set of additions to the existing world. The features trailer is split into three chapters: new stories, ocean exploration ("Beyond the Shores") and "A Richer Life in Pywel". DualShockers framed the sea content as Subnautica-like, which is that outlet's comparison rather than a developer claim.

Push Square says the base game's map becomes just a corner of the whole once the DLC is installed. That is the outlet's characterisation of the scale; no figures for the new area appear in the material.

PC Gamer's coverage also points to earlier pre-launch details: 133 new trading posts and an overhauled in-game economy with supply and demand, plus a hint that romance options are available via an NPC's interaction menu. Those details come from PC Gamer's earlier reporting, and their exact shape in the finished DLC is not spelled out here.

The trailer listing says pre-orders would receive the Charter's and Charter's Light Diving Sets.

Push Square's PS5 review score for the base game is 8/10. Its verdict called the game borderline brilliant for anyone who can handle the obtuse moments, of which it says there are many.

GameSpot's trailer listing uses the name Crimson Desert Enhanced; the supplied material does not explain the branding. PC Gamer notes that Pearl Abyss said it would slow free updates ahead of the paid release.
