The Switch 2 has been on shelves since June 5, 2025, but the homebrew and piracy scene has now reached a milestone Nintendo would rather avoid. Multiple reports say jailbreak exploits have been developed for the console, and that the first game dumps are being circulated online.

Notebookcheck reports that the Switch 2 jailbreak has produced its first game dumps even as Nintendo responds to the piracy threat. GoNintendo similarly reports that Switch 2 ROMs are reportedly being dumped online for the first time. Treat the specifics as unconfirmed until there is independent verification, but the direction is clear: the console's security is under active pressure.

Nintendo has not ignored it. The company has been publicly and technically responsive to piracy before, and these reports land while it is preparing for a packed release period rather than a hardware launch. OpenCritic and Game Rant count nine big Switch 2 games confirmed for November, a lineup that shows how much is riding on the platform's software momentum.

That distinction matters. November is a software slate for a console that is already on the market, not a second debut for the hardware. A piracy breakthrough in the middle of that schedule gives Nintendo a very different problem to manage.

We will update this story if Nintendo comments or if the dump reports are independently verified.

Correction, Oct 25, 2026: An earlier version of this story incorrectly described the Switch 2 as not yet released. The console launched on June 5, 2025.
