Physical media on Switch 2 is still a short list, and it just got one name longer. Haste is getting a boxed release on Nintendo's console, according to Nintendo Everything.
That is, genuinely, the entire announcement. No date. No price. No word on whether the cartridge holds the full game or whether buyers get a download code and a nice picture of a cartridge. For a console that's barely into its second year, though, a third-party box at all is a small signal worth logging.
Haste is a speed-obsessed action game — one built around momentum, routing and shaving seconds off your own runs rather than surviving a gauntlet. That design leans hard on replayability, which makes it an odd fit for the digital-only default that most mid-budget games have settled into. A physical run is a bet that there's an audience who wants it on a shelf next to their other quick-clear favourites.
It's also a bet on Switch 2 owners actually buying boxes. Nintendo's own first-party output has stayed on cartridge, but third parties have been more mixed, and the console's physical library is still small enough that you can count it without much effort. Every addition nudges the format away from being a collector's curiosity.
The timing is loud, at least. The Switch 2 news cycle has been busy this week — WellPlayed reported the console has been jailbroken for the first time, roughly a year after launch — so a quiet physical-release confirmation is going to get buried under louder headlines. That's a shame, because this is the kind of unglamorous logistics story that tells you more about a platform's health than a hack ever will.
What we're still missing is everything useful: when it ships, what it costs, and whether the box contains a playable game or a voucher with extra steps. Nintendo Everything's report doesn't say, and nobody else has filled in the gaps yet. Until a listing appears on a retailer's site, treat the specifics as open questions — the release itself, though, appears to be real.
