Nintendo's marketing for the Ocarina of Time remake has gone full time capsule. The company's UK arm dropped a new TV spot headlined "Art thou ready?" — and if you were parked in front of a TV in 1998, the whole thing will feel less like an ad and more like a flashback.
Grainy tape texture. Overheated voiceover. A kid staring at a CRT. Nintendo isn't hiding the reference; the spot is a deliberate callback to the N64-era commercials that sold the original game to people who had never seen a 3D Hyrule.
It's a smart play for a remake landing on November 5. Rather than sell the new version on technical improvements alone, Nintendo is selling the memory — the idea that this is the same game you remember, just not blurry anymore. The push is everywhere right now: trailers, shorts and TV spots all running at once as the date closes in.
The details keep trickling out alongside it. GamesRadar reports the remake borrows a feature from Breath of the Wild — the option to switch the UI off entirely, for players who'd rather navigate Hyrule without a minimap babysitting them. Nintendo Everything has compiled a running list of what's changed, improved and left alone. Game Rant, meanwhile, has catalogued seven things Nintendo still hasn't shown: bosses, items and moments being kept under wraps until launch.
Preorders are live too, with Mashable flagging a $10 discount on the standard edition.
None of this is a surprise. Ocarina of Time is the game Nintendo can sell on pure recognition, and it knows it.
