The demo dropped this morning. Nintendo Life's reminder post put it plainly: "Join the hunt." No fanfare, no livestream — just a store page and a download button.

It's the Prologue Demo, which means the opening portion of the campaign rather than a curated slice of late-game hunts. Capcom announced it last month, and the rollout landed alongside pre-orders for the full release, which is set for December 4.

That timing is the Capcom playbook working as intended. Put the opening hours in players' hands for free, let the combat loop do the marketing, and have the pre-order button sitting three inches away when the credits-on-the-demo-screen feeling hits. It's the same trick that has worked for the series for two decades, and it's hard to argue with it.

For Switch 2 owners specifically, this is the first proper look at how a current-generation Monster Hunter holds up on Nintendo's hardware. The demo is the honest answer to the question everyone's been asking since the port was revealed — not a trailer, not a screenshot, an actual playable build you can judge yourself.

One practical note if you're installing: storage. A second source this week flagged the Samsung P9 Express Switch 2 card down to $59.99, which is the least exciting sentence in this article and possibly the most useful one.

The demo is free. The full game is not. Pre-orders are live now, and December 4 is the date to circle.
