Culdcept Begins is coming to Steam on October 28, and it's the first brand-new game in the series in a decade — the card-and-board hybrid that has quietly kept a devoted following since the original PlayStation days.
The Steam version isn't a straight port. According to the announcement, the release packs in additional versus maps and a reworked UI, alongside improvements to controls and on-screen readability. That last part matters more than it sounds. Culdcept throws dice rolls, card effects, and board math at you all at once, and clarity has always been the difference between a clever comeback and a confusing mess.
Existing owners on Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 aren't left out. Those versions will receive the same content as a free update, so the new maps and interface tweaks land across the board rather than being locked behind the new platform.
For the uninitiated: Culdcept mixes a Monopoly-style board with a collectible card game. You roll, you move, you claim territory by summoning creatures from your deck, and you try to drain your opponents' resources before they do it to you. It sounds strange on paper and then eats entire evenings.
Ten years without a proper sequel is a long wait for fans who have been replaying the older entries. October 28 finally gives them something new to shuffle.
